Hello again :) Today while on Pinterest, I saw a pin for this project. While my previous working experience in childcare and preschool field, I had done something similar with the kids but rather then painting the salt, we used colored sand. Rembering how easy it was, and how captivated the children were, I chose this project that was sure to get my kiddos attentions :) So here is a tutorial for you to try out with your kids or nieces/nephews, even a fun one for childcare scenarios -Very easy!
Materials needed:
-Dark colored Paper
- Elmer's Glue
-Table Salt
-Food Coloring
-Q tips
-Small glasses {I used plastic shot glasses found at Walmart}
Draw your design out on the paper using the Glue.
Cover with Salt. {Note: Depending on the amount of glue in spots-you may need to re-coat in salt a few times. I did the feet, buttons, and scarf many times}
Also- I found it best to let the glue/salt sit and dry before giving to paint but that was my preference as my son decided to paint with the glue and a q tip brush on first project :)

Amount of food coloring depends on how rich you want your colors. I put enough food coloring into the shot glass to cover the bottom entirely then a few drops more, then simply added water to dilute a little. I did not put as much water in the yellow as it was the lightest of the colors- And I obviously didn't opt for more color choices
Q tips for the paint brushes.
Then let them create masterpieces...
When finished, lay flat in a safe place to dry.
Once dried hang and display :)
